
The Committee on Regional Development (REGI) is responsible for regional and cohesion policy, in particular the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Cohesion Fund (CF) and other Union regional policy instruments, assessing the impact of other Union policies on economic and social cohesion, coordinating the Union's structural instruments, the urban dimension of cohesion policy, relations with the Committee regions, inter-regional cooperation organisations and local and regional authorities.
Through this committee, Gordan is particularly committed to maintaining cohesion funds in the future Multiannual Financial Framework, for greater use of cohesion funds for the needs of affordable housing and for stronger direct financing of cities.
The Special Committee on the Housing Crisis in the European Union (HOUS) was established by a decision of the European Parliament on 18 December 2024, with the aim of analysing and proposing solutions for decent, sustainable and affordable housing for all EU citizens. During his tenure as coordinator for the Greens/ESS Group within the Special Committee, Gordan works with relevant bodies, experts and civil society representatives to gather best practices and propose concrete measures to address the housing crisis in Europe.

Petitions may relate to issues within the EU's competence, such as violations of citizens' rights, problems with the application of European legislation or environmental and social issues. One of the important tasks of the Committee is also the organisation of hearings and fact-finding missions and cooperation with other committees and institutions, through which it often cooperates with the European Commission and the European Ombudsman.

The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) deals with employment policy and all aspects of social policy, workers' rights, health and safety at work measures, the European Social Fund +, vocational education policy, free movement of workers and pensioners, dialogue with social partners, all forms of discrimination in the workplace and on the labour market, and the relationship with EU agencies in the field (CEDEFOP, Eurofound, EU-OSHA, ETF and ELA).
Through this Committee, Gordan focuses in particular on the issues of coordination of social security systems, the rights of pensioners, the rights of long-term residents and assistance to workers and areas facing serious socio-economic challenges resulting from the transition to climate neutrality.
