An inspiring weekend at the European Green Party Congress in Lisbon.
Once a year, Greens from all over Europe gather at the Congress to discuss current burning political topics, exchange experiences and build common strategies for a fairer, greener and more democratic continent. The aim of the congress is clear: to strengthen the European Green Movement and to connect people working at local, regional and European level on solutions to the climate crisis, social justice and sustainable development.

This year I also had the opportunity to moderate a panel on affordable housing, a topic that I deal intensively with throughout the year. Once again we have made it clear: solutions to the housing crisis exist, but political will is needed to implement them. More public housing, regulation of short-term rentals, and stronger policies that put people, not speculation, at the center.
We recharged our batteries and came back with a lot of inspiration, especially after hearing fantastic examples of green and social policies from other countries. Today we have 5 mayors of the capitals of the EU countries (Copenhagen, Riga, Budapest, Amsterdam and Zagreb) from the ranks of the green, and it is the local communities that are leading the changes from innovative policies that give citizens greater security and quality of life.
