Pensioners are the generation that built the Europe we live in today

It's time to start giving back to them

This year, the Intergenerational Forum was set up in the European Parliament, a new space for cooperation bringing together all democratic and pro-European groups, with the support of the European Commission and Commissioner Glen Micallef, on key topics such as longevity, healthy ageing, the rights and social inclusion of older people and intergenerational solidarity.

The Forum is a place where we build together a vision of a Europe that respects its older citizens, and also gives us a strong wind in the back for a project we launched a few months ago:

universal EU pensioners card ✨.

This card would allow pensioners discounts across Europe, easier travel and greater mobility within the EU. Why? Because we want a continent where older people can live actively, freely and with fewer financial obstacles.

In the Petitions Committee (PETI) in January I am also organising our first workshop 🧠 where we will bring together top experts to discuss in detail for the first time the model and potential of the universal EU pension card. This is only the beginning, but a step towards a Europe that cares equally and respectfully for all its generations.
