Europe is and remains a project of peace. And 80 years after the Second World War, which today only a few directly remember, reminds us of how important it is to be united in diversity
For me, the European Union has never been just a piggy bank from which we take money out of funds when we need it. The EU is much more than that, it is a union of values.
I think it is based on trust that together we are stronger and better. On the will to cooperate, to listen to each other, and to find compromises, however difficult it may be at times. If we don't even find them sometimes, we still sail on. As imperfect as we are and make mistakes, we are still one of the most attractive places to live.
These values are also important to me personally, and through my work in the European Parliament I see firsthand how they are implemented every day.
