2024 was the hottest year so far, 2025 is on track to break that record 🔥

I am proud of the work of the Greens across Europe because since the beginning of this battle we have argued that climate action - carried out in accordance with social policies - is not a burden, but an opportunity for a better and safer future for all of us!

For the first time in history, the average global temperature was 1.5°C higher than in pre-industrial times, and today we know that Europe is warming twice as fast as the world average. In addition, extreme rains, floods, droughts and heat waves cost us more than €18 billion last year!

And that is why it is particularly important that today, as a brutal heatwave threatens the lives of millions of citizens of Croatia and the whole of Europe, the Commission is presenting a new climate target for 2040. 👉 Target? -90% net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 (compared to 1990) which will bring:

🟢 Stimulating investments in renewable energy sources and creating jobs that have already contributed 30% to the growth of the EU economy in 2023 alone!

🟢 Reduction of household energy bills by 60% in the next 10 years

🟢 Less air pollution, more lives saved, lower healthcare costs

I am proud of the work of the Greens across Europe because since the beginning of this battle we have argued that climate action - carried out in accordance with social policies - is not a burden, but an opportunity for a better and safer future for all of us!
